You know the old saying, Train How you Fight? Well we use US Facilities because some of them are very similar to Afghanistan. It provides ideal training for soldiers headed to the Sandbox.~Thanato

The Reserves are brought into the Reg Force units and do Pre-Deployment training with them.~Thanato

You dont need much to train in Infantry Warefare, nore Tank Warfare nore Artiliery Warfare. The US has money to pure into hyper realistic facilities but sometimes the simpelest is the best. The CF operate state of the Art KIT, that also includes training aids.Special Forces is Different, we have Top Caliber Special Operators, we just dont know how they train, however the US has asked for them specificly on more then one Occasion, so we must be doing something good.

You guys are lucky then, because we are about to get shredded by our government. I understand the Canadian military is a very proffesional, well equipped force, but as well trained as the Americans...I don't think so, they just don't have as much money. I am however, glad the Canadians are on our side and like the guy said, if I saw them coming to help out in a firefight, I'd be confident in them.

P.S. The Canadians have nothing like any of our NTCs, like Fort irwin, Fort Polk or Fort Knox and they actually come down to use those facilities periodically, though they do get spanked by OPFOR, just like everybody else does.

oh boy, what kind of weapons do you think the Canadians are using? You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Marines get 16 weeks of bootcamp and then MOS training. Even the Army gets 8 weeks solid of basic training, plus AIT, that could go on for any number of months. When they arrive at their units, it continues. The M-16 is a good weapon, better than the AK...I carried an M-16/M-4 for years and it gets the job done. I'm now convinced you're a kid hung up on urban legends.

Actually, the canadian government is very pro military right now, the conservatives are in power. We just are historically a less militaristic country that america is. Canada has less enemies than america so we spend less on the army, still, we got a lot of money and new equipment over the past 8 years from the conservatives including: new leopard 2a6m tanks, m777 howitzers, and a midlife upgrade for our standard service rifle, c7a2s, and new transport aircraft.

these arent americans. Canadians get one year of predeployment training, at least the reserves do.

Sorry, but the standard US Army weapon is now more than 50 years old, hell even one of the designers of the M16 says he would have his son use one of the latest AK's over what the US army uses. On top of that I believe the sum total of training for US marines is less than 8 weeks. I find it crazy that after a mere 8 weeks of training they feel that person is ready for active combat especially when there isn't a draft on (that's irrespective of country).

which areas would those be?Infantry tactics? No
Armor? No
Artillery? No
ADA? No
Special Forces? Hell No
Peacekeeping stuff? I'll give you that one
Thanato26(November 12, 2008 at 8:55 pm)
No it does not. By that logic their would be a drastic difference in the training of the Canadian Soldier Compaired to the Amerian Soldier/Marine, which there is not. infact in some areas teh CF has the edge over the US.~Thanato

let me rephrase that in simple terms, yes it does.
