Alan Jackson is one of the best songwriters in country music. He wrote this song about Hank Williams and it is a VERY good song. One of my favorite Alan Jackson songs. He's wrote just about every single he's had and has done a great job in his career. He should be in the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

I'm young and don't know much but I know music, my grandma had Buck Owens try to buy her drinks back in the day, that impressed me the most til now. Man, you lived an awesome life I'll bet.

Two greats. Alan and Hank. When Alan sings, you know what he says. When Hank sang, you were hearing a part of his life. I'm 74 and used to listen to ol' Hank when Country wasn't cool, right up to his death on New Years Day in '53. And I still listen to him. He sang hard, he drank hard and he played hard. And he done it all in 29 years. He had back pains most of his life. I asked him once, "Hank, does it hurt much?". He just smiled with those thin lips and said, "Only when I'm sober".

Hank Williams (Sr.) was one of the origanal counrty singers. I think i read somewhere that he is (was) one of Alan jackson's "heros",also Hank Williams died of an alcohol related heart attack so this was a tibute song to one of his heros (just what i think)
