A deeply contrived scenario in which any woman who is not the blond is assumed to be on an equal footing in terms of attractiveness, thus, in order to obviate rivalry, the blond simply has to be eliminated. This scenario is bullshit. Take out the most beautiful target and all of the men would go for the next most beautiful target, result: same squabble over a less valuable target. Pseudo-intellectual pap!

The movie does not claim anywhere that it's showing a Nash Equilibrium. Watch the scene again and you won't find anything at all to indicate that.
You're making a presumption beyond the available evidence (assuming this is about NE, just because Nash is involved), and then condemning the movie for not matching what you thought it should be showing, rather than actually criticising what's there.
Which is entirely missing the point.

I think people are somewhat missing the point.
It's not supposed to be showing the Nash Equilibrium. Nowhere in the dialogue is that implied or stated.
By this point in the movie, Nash would not have a mature "game theory" in mind.
This scene is only supposed to show Nash come to the realisation that individual self-interest does not always produce the best overall result.

Precisely, no one could track the others' moves and therefore no one knew what the other parties were doing. Therefore everyone acted in their own self-interest, blocked each other, and brought the system crashing down. It wasn't a failure in behavior that brought the system down, it was adherence to the generally-accepted rules of human behavior (i.e. Smith's model).

i don't think the sub-prime mortgage was anything to do with a failure in human behaviour: they just lost track of where all the risk was, i.e there wasn't proper traciblity or record keeping (it was off-balance sheet).
