True, England loved hi,. He never made it big in the US... and this was towards the end of his career. He was censored to the point where they refused to have him there anymore, hey had to cut his entire show.

By the way, Hicks was mainstream in England. Carlin basically had the US audience by seniority alone. Hicks did plenty of shows in the US and was even featured on The Tonight's Show where he was censored on more then one occasion because of his (explicit)material.

George Carlin had been in the business 30 years before Hicks even started... Carlin and Hicks knew each other and have commented on how they liked each other in interviews. Carlin had godlike delivery and was sheer genius when it came to expressing a story everyone knew but no one talked about. Pryor was very good but when it comes down to it, its very difficult to top Carlin and Hicks. Takes a special atmosphere to create an individual like either of them.

FIY Intelligence and Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is devided into many parts, and it varies depending on the scales you use. What you state Carlin has lots of (knowledge) is ONE out of many parts, this is actually the smallest part of the other parts, which include spatial thinking, abstract reasoning, application of knowledge, language, problem solving, analytical skills, and general reasoning, among others...

True he wasn't accused. Because Bill Hicks wasn't too mainstream, so no-one compared them. For your convenience there is a comparison video already on youtube :) They both influenced each other, but Hicks hadn't heard about carlin when he did standup as a 15 year old in Houston.

Yes he was a legend. He was never accused of stealing jokes, and delivered comedy that wasn't really invented yet. He was much smarter than you, even if you listen to some of his material, its pure genius. His IQ was definetly up there. He had vast knowledge in almost every category there is. Math, History, Science, Language (especially english). There's no way you would even come close..sorry

Legend? hardly. Legend status is POUNDED for stealing jokes!! Bill Hicks was more of a legend. Carlin was just more mainstream, trying to suck up to the audience. Bill spoke from the roots of his heart.

There are different types of smarts. I'd bet he beat me in a "Yo Momma" episode, but not necessarily an IQ test...
