Discussion on PZ Myers being expelled from Expelled
This is a short clip from an upcoming discussion between PZ Myers and Richard Dawkins. I thought I should post the relevant piece about the film Expelled today. (Filmed and Edited by Josh Timonen)View more at: http://... http://...
Wow really...did you read my response why did I get called a jackass for saying the same thing you said? Who is really the jackass here?

no not really jackass! it becomes a theory after experimentation, that shows the hypothesys is right... hypothesis is the "idea".get a science book, i cant' believe you don't know these things.
who was responsable for your education?

so why did you click to watch the video?

Is Richard Dawkins ever going to say anything worth listening to? I've listened to high schoolers give better reasons, discussions and or debates then this guy ever did. Please say something profound or don't say anything at all Mr Dawkins. :[

No, not really, no, no in fact his "theory" might qualify as a hypothesis, maybe.

Sorry was out of townNo scientist is ever trying to implement a theory that has philosophical baggage they are just trying to explain how the world works. But is it important that person x believes in God when they support the theory that the Earth revoloves around the Sun?In response to your question the answer I would say no, unless of course the freeway had no entrances from the start till here, but I fail to see what this has to do with evolution.

I'm curious about Hovind and his theory. Did he publish it in a science journal? Has he lectured before the scientific community at prestigious universities? Has his theory been tested? Has it stood the rigors of peer review?

I think that scientifically it matters quite a bit whether one believes in God or not, especially when one makes a theory with philosophical baggage attached to it.Another question: if you were standing next to a freeway and saw a car pass you going east, is it logical to assume that it started as far west as possible and was traveling the same speed the whole way?
Hochemon2008(November 25, 2008 at 11:15 pm)
1) I don't think it matters if I believe in God or not2) Scientifically it matters even lessBut to answer your question yes I do.I am not "hiding" behind the millions of year argument we have strong evidence that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and life began around 3.5 billion years ago.As for "the Hovind theory" it is an actually attempt at science that ignore the vast majority of the evidence and as I said in the prior post seen it...what part did you find most convincing?
shewey(November 25, 2008 at 10:48 pm)
Let me ask you a question... Do you believe in God? It's a reasonable question. One thing I personally can't stand is the whole hiding away of things in millions of years. Honestly, it's a bit like attributing basic natural phenomena to God - there's no testing it. It may be true though.
"The Hovind theory" is actually science. He doesn't do as many personal jabs and there'sa whole heck of a lot more science. He truly has a good theory. And since I watched your video it's now your turn...

The making of this movie is a great thing. When there is much material produced by both sides it will be easy to compare the the honesty in the way the other side is treated both one other. For example, I have seen some of Dawkin's doco's where he has let creationists go on and on, essentially digging their own grave. From what I have seen from this film it is 99% his commentary supported by one sentence/half sentence snippets of the opposition. Let's have them make as many films as they want.

Trust me I know all about "Dr." Kent Havind's theories and my suggestion is that you try to find another source I can assure you there are better...The human mind has trouble comprehending anything over the lifetime of a human which is understandable considering that there was no need when we were evolving to need to be able to comprehend more than that.
