In 1969, Fred Rogers appeared before the United States Senate Subcommittee on Communications. His goal was to support funding for PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in response to significant proposed cuts by President Nixon.
I actually cried as he recited that song! I remember it so well...

What a thoroughly nice guy. This is one of the first hearings Ive seen where the speaker isnt constantly interrupted or attacked. Thats respect.

What a great man. Now it seems PBS is phasing out Mr. Roger's re-runs. How sad considering what he did for public television, and what we all learned from him.

this world today is lacking many things in many ways-a collective sense of self-respect and respect for eachother is just the beginning.Fred Rogers taught that.This world is missing Mr Rogers.

he was such a good teacher. Honestly, I dont think that I ever would have gone to college if I hadnt watched him every morning.
He had a talent for making you not feel like crap.
Mr. Rogers is a legend.
