Gentlemen, face it no matter what airforce markings these aircraft wore men fought and died fighting for their countries. At least respect that, even if for some you don't respect the government that was giving the orders.

...continuing. After 11 years of inprisonment we was given the maximum grade in west germany's aviation until he was retired. That is what I know. Correct me if wrong.

@ SGT Stefchen Infact. He was condemmned for having killed quite 800 civilians on the ground with the projectiles that didn't hit the enemy planes and fell to the ground. Quite an impossible if not stupid accusation. This was obviously only an escuse for sending him in prison. In reality he had many proofs for crimins of war commited by nazis (he was a well known anti-hitler caracter).

Yeah.. German pilots that fought at the Eastern Frot aren't really mentioned these days... But Hartmann was the top scoring fighter ace of all times!
panzerschranz(May 23, 2007 at 10:40 pm)
yeah i was probably thinking of one of the other german aces. too many-they get mixd up and such. he flew just about every german fighter
SGTStefchen(May 23, 2007 at 8:53 pm)
You the German Pilot you're talking about was Erich Hartmann! He didn't get killed... but imprisoned in the Soviet Union for almost 11 years!
